TOUT LE CIEL EST NÉCESSAIRE/ ALL HEAVEN IS NECESSARY

“Even for the simple flight of a butterfly, all heaven is necessary…” - Paul Claudel

Brisson’s current exhibition is a continuation of the themes and motifs on which he has explored during the last year. While rather isolated in his studio during this time, Brisson focused on the natural world around him. The flora and fauna of the Mediterranean coast provided him with an environment full of beauty and inspiration. A combination of painting and collage, the works contain familiar themes of birds, butterflies and fish rendered in rich, bold colors. Evidence of the strong connection Brisson has to Matisse and the Fauvists. The collection provides a window into the world as imagined by Brisson as he shares it with us.
