One of the most satisfying aspects of owning an art gallery is the opportunity it presents to work with talented artists over long periods of time. There are few experiences more gratifying than watching an artist you admire develop his unique personal style and master the techniques necessary to express his artistic vision.
This is the ongoing gift I have received from Pierre Marie Brisson over the nearly two decades that Franklin Bowles Galleries has represented his work in the United States.
During those decades Brisson's paintings and graphics have evolved through several distinct periods. Our current exhibition presents key works from the most recent of these periods, characterized by Brisson’s depiction of large human and floral forms; these are often set against an almost grid-like background produced by Pierre Marie’s distinctive "dripping" technique, which he applies with great confidence and control.
It is with great pleasure that I present this exhibition of new works by a truly remarkable contemporary artist.
